Are the workshops suitable for beginners?
Yes. The Beginner Photography Workshop and the Smartphone Photography Workshop start from scratch. Every workshop is marked Start, Build or Specialise so you can see which suits your experience.
Can I learn photography online with CapturEDU?
Yes. The CapturEDU Online School has 9 courses, 118 modules and 495 illustrated lessons you can take at your own pace on any camera, including your phone. Module 1 is free with no card needed; membership is A$29 a month or A$299 a year. See the online school.
How much does a photography workshop cost?
Group workshops in Melbourne are $130 to $149 per person for 2 to 3 hours. Private lessons are $165 for one hour, or $150 an hour for two hours or more. Full-day private workshops are $1,000 for 6 to 7 hours.
What camera should I bring?
A mirrorless or DSLR camera with manual controls suits most workshops. The Smartphone Photography Workshop needs only your phone. Each workshop page lists any tripod, lens or filter requirements.
How many people are in a workshop?
A maximum of eight, so there is time for individual help, demonstrations and feedback throughout the session.
Can I book a private photography lesson or mentoring?
Yes. Private lessons cover camera settings, composition, editing, drone, architecture, botanical and light painting photography. Mentoring programs run over several weeks or months for photographers working towards a portfolio, exhibition or business.

Workshops run at Melbourne locations including the CBD laneways, Flinders Street, Southbank and Melbourne Zoo. Photography tours travel through Victoria, Australia and New Zealand.
